Waimea Canyon State Park
Esteemed writer and world traveler Mark Twain dubbed it "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific." This park offers spectacular views of the colorful canyon, as well as picnic areas and two hiking trails, one, an easy loop with fabulous viewpoints and the other, a difficult trail descending more than 2,000 feet to the floor of the canyon, to Wiliwili Camp (a permit is required to camp).
