I'ao Valley State Park
and I'ao Needle continued
I'ao stream tumbles along the sharp crevice at the bottom of two ridges extending down the walls of Pu'u Kukui Crater as it makes its way to the sea.
The 6.2-acre park features a paved trail through a botanical garden featuring plants brought to the valley by early Hawaiians who settled there.
The park features easy-access, railed pathways, paved parking, restrooms and stunning views. However, there is no drinking water.
The park is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. but I'ao Needle is often shrouded by low-lying clouds as the day progresses, so early mornings offer the best views.
