Rules and Regulations
Eligibility and Proof of Eligibility:
You must be 21 years old or older to enter. Winners will be required to provide proof of age.
Not Eligible:
Employees, officers, directors of Honolulu Publishing Company, Ltd., all advertising and contest agencies, their immediate family members and those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to participate in this contest.
Photo Requirements:
Photos submitted must have been taken in Hawaii. Each person is allowed to enter ONE photo from each Island — Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and Kauai — for a maximum of 4 photos per person. Each photo submitted must belong to the entrant and entrant must own all rights. Photos submitted must be suitable for viewing by the general public, including children. Photos that we believe are inappropriate will not be accepted. Honolulu Publishing Company, Ltd. will be the sole and final judge regarding acceptability.
Image Ownership Rights (Copyright):
DO NOT SUBMIT PHOTOS THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU OR THAT YOU DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO. DOING SO IS AGAINST THE LAW AND COULD RESULT IN LAW SUITS BEING FILED AGAINST YOU. By submitting your photo you attest that you own the photo and have the right to submit it. By submitting your photo you take full responsibility for all copyright issues or claims that may arise concerning your photo.
Publishing Rights:
By submitting your photo you agree to grant Honolulu Publishing Company, Ltd., the immutable and irrevocable right to publish the photo in any of its publications and/or Websites, videos and other venues, whether physical or electronic, forever in perpetuity. (We will include a photo credit whenever possible.)
Deadlines, Winner Selection and Notification to the Winner:
Deadlines for each monthly contest are the last day of the month. Monthly winners will be chosen around the end of the first work week of the following month. Overall contest ends February 29, 2012. Annual Grand Prize winners will be selected from among monthly winners around March 15, 2012. Winning photos will be posted on our Website as soon as possible after they have been selected. All winners will be chosen by Honolulu Publishing Company, Ltd., and its decision will be final. Winners will be notified by email and/or phone. Prizes that remain unclaimed 30 days after all reasonable attempts have been made to contact the winners will be forfeited.
Prizes and Values:
Twelve $50 monthly prizes, and one grand prize of $200, at the end of the contest, will be awarded for the island of Oahu.
Twelve $50 monthly prizes, and one grand prize of $200, at the end of the contest, will be awarded for the island of Maui.
Twelve $50 monthly prizes, and one grand prize of $200, at the end of the contest, will be awarded for the island of Hawaii.
Twelve $50 monthly prizes, and one grand prize of $200, at the end of the contest, will be awarded for the island of Kauai.
Governing Law:
By entering this photo contest, entrant agrees to be bound by, and accepts all of the above “Rules and Regulations”. The validity of these “Rules and Regulations” and their enforcement, as well as the rights and obligations of the sponsors and entrants, shall be construed and governed by the laws of the state of Hawaii (except where prohibited by law). All suits or claims brought in connection with this contest must be brought in a state or federal court in Honolulu, Hawaii. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, municipal, and local laws and regulations and void where prohibited by law.
