This ArtFest takes place in Historic Haleiwa Town, on Oahu's beautiful North Shore and features juried visual artists, musicians, singers, dancers and lots of delicious island food. There will also be cultural/historical tours, art demonstrations and a host of hand-on children's activities. A vast media of art will be available for viewing and purchase from approximately 140 artists with original works and limited additions, both traditional and contemporary, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture, ceramic, fabric, glass, jewelry and handmade clothing. Merrie Monarch Festival

Merrie Monarch FestivalThe 49th annual Merrie Monarch festival is a week-long cultural event starting Easter Sunday and culminating with the three-day hula competition showcasing the best in hula. The competition is held April 12 through 14 at the Edith Kanakaole Stadium in Hilo. Most activities are free to the public, but tickets are needed to attend the three-day hula competition. Ticket prices vary depending on seating and number of performances attended.

Honolulu Family FestivalHonolulu Family Festival
at Magic Island 2012

Fun for a good cause: Presented by Mayor Mufi Hannemann and Honolulu 100 (a non-profit group), the festival is held annually at beautiful Magic Island in Ala Moana Beach Park. Proceeds from the festival are to be donated to the refurbishment of Ala Moana Beach Park. E. K. Fernandez company will provide a full range of carnival rides. Live bands, hula, puppet shows and food booths provide additional enjoyment.

The 59th annual Hoolaulea and largest block party in the state will be held on Kalakaua Avenue between Lewers Street and Kapahulu Avenues with the 2011 theme being “Island Music.” The celebration kicks off with the arrival of the Royal Court. Twelve city blocks will feature multiple entertainment stages, a large variety of food, lei vendors and hula crafters.

Ford Ironman World Championship

Ford Ironman World Championship
The defining race in the sport for any avid triathlete, the Ford Ironman World Championship features 1,800 of the strongest triathletes in one of the biggest challenges the sport has to offer. The contest begins with 2.4 miles of swimming through tough ocean waves, starting and ending at Kailua Pier, followed by biking from Kailua Pier to Hawi and back (112-miles), followed by a 26.2 mile marathon run, finishing on Alii Drive, amid the cheers of thousands of excited fans. Anyone who completes this competition has truly earned the right to be called an ironman or ironwoman.
